How It Works

My role as a coach is to help my clients move from where they are now to where they want to be more quickly and effectively than if they were working on their own.

My coaching works by helping you to discover what’s really important to you so that you can set goals and develop strategies to ensure you achieve this. Via one to one sessions you’ll gain insights that will make you more self aware and increase your personal impact, as well as improve your self-esteem and confidence. You can then continue to move forward and succeed in all areas of your career and personal life.

Who Do I Coach?

I offer one to one coaching to people who are going through a career transition and to those looking to achieve a more fulfilling life.

Graduates

Are you a graduate and not sure what career path you want to follow?  I work with graduates to identify their interests and key skills and put together a career wish list.  I then help with their CV and interview preparation to ensure they secure the right job not just any job.

Mums

As a mum myself, I know how being away from work for an extended period of time can play havoc with your confidence.  There is also the worry about how your job will fit around the needs of your family.  I help mums who have had a career break gain the confidence to move back into the world of work and enable them to find flexible and fulfilling careers.

Mature Workers

Have you reached a point in your life where you feel that you need a change? Do you want a new career, to start your own business or to become a volunteer? You may want or need to continue to earn money or you may want to leave work behind and do something completely different – whatever your situation is, I can help.

Work-life Balance

There are a lot of demands on our time these days, especially with technology enabling us to be connected 24/7, and it can be hard to switch off.  I can help you to identify the changes you need to make to have a better balance in your life and ensure you put together an action plan so the changes are implemented.

CV Review and Mock Interview

If you know what career you are interested in doing but need help securing the job, I can help.  With my background in HR, I have extensive experience in reviewing CV’s and conducting interviews.  I use this experience to advise individuals on the changes that could be made to their CV to ensure it has the greatest impact when applying for new roles.  By conducting mock interviews, I give individuals a safe environment to practise and hone their interview skills, so that they can go away and ace the real thing!

If you can relate to any of the situations above and want to find out more about what I do then please contact me.  I am based in Maidenhead but as I coach via phone and Skype, as well as face to face, there are no geographical restrictions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?

Coaching is a tool that is used to empower individuals and help them to reach their goals.  It is a structured conversation between the coach and the client, in an environment which is completely judgment free.

As your coach, I will provide you with the opportunity to explore the areas of your life that are important to you by listening, asking questions and finding out what your challenges are.  I will support you to set goals and inspire you to make positive changes that lead you towards your desired results.

As my client, I will encourage you to make decisions and take responsibility for these decisions.  You will be open to making changes in your life and to taking steps forward to achieve your goals.

What happens in a coaching session?

Each session begins with a brief review of the actions you have taken since the last session, so that you can share successes.  Then a goal for the current session is set and we consider where you are at the present moment and what your options are in order to meet this goal.

By the end of each session, you will have committed to undertaking a number of actions to move you towards your overall objective.  Between each session you will undertake the actions or tasks that you have set for yourself.

During, or in between, sessions you may be asked if you would like to complete personal development exercises to assist with your thought process and to help clarify goals, options or actions.

What are the differences between coaching and other support services such as therapy, counselling and mentoring?

Coaching differs from counselling and therapy because it is future focussed. Thus, in order to help you move forward, I will not be delving into your past, but encouraging you to set and work towards goals.

Mentors, counsellors and therapists tend to give advice during their professional sessions but coaching is a non advisory support service.  Coaches do not give advice because we believe you are the expert in your own life and that you have all the answers within you.  As a coach, I will support and encourage you to find those answers, thus ensuring you get what YOU want.

Who else will know what has been said?

A coaching session is completely confidential. I agree and comply to the Coaching Code of conduct (you will receive a copy of this if you decide to go ahead with the coaching) and only in extreme circumstances will this confidence be breached. This includes the intent to cause harm to yourself or others, or criminal acts.

How do I get started?

Please either use the contact form or send me an email so that I can answer any further questions you may have and/or to arrange an informal chat on the phone.

Once you have decided that you wish to commence coaching, I will forward you a welcome pack which includes a coaching agreement and a client profile sheet.  This will give me a better understanding of what is going on in your life right now and what you want to achieve from coaching.
